Oysters & Grill gets four stars in Berlingske
“The conclusion is that Oyster & Grill still holds up eight years after our last visit. Not much has changed since then, but why should it? They've found a winning formula, stuck to it, and today it has established itself as a true neo-classic.”
It's not often that a restaurant with almost 14 years of experience gets column space in the newspaper review sections. Nevertheless, Oysters & Grill was reviewed by Berlingske's Søren Damm last week. Under the headline “It's been eight years since I last visited this delightful classic. That was stupid”, our local seafood restaurant in Nørrebro received high praise for both cooking and service, and a full four stars.
About Oysters & Grill, Søren Damm said, among other things:
“There's a great atmosphere here. The crowd tends to be young, which makes sense here in the heart of Nørrebro. There were a lot of friends in their 30s who were out to eat together, but also many families. The acoustics are not particularly elderly-friendly, but I still spotted a happy retired couple enjoying a portion of oysters. The waiter was there like a nail and I immediately ordered the Portuguese Albarinho Monaco E Melgaco, Pardal, Quinta de Santiago, which is a delicious and refreshing all-round wine from Vinho Verde with notes of mandarin and lime - and at a reasonable price.”
...
“First we had a small handful of deep fried prawns. Like the oysters, they were perfectly fried - almost puffed - and the shrimp tasted sweet and fresh throughout. They don't get any better than that. We had to have another portion immediately!”
...
“The small grilled sea bass was served with a fresh, small green salad, a light spicy salsa and a generous helping of good fries. The fish itself was perfect and came off the bone easily without being overcooked. The taste was a fine symbiosis of light umami and sweetness with an underlying freshness. Everything was good.”
...
“In conclusion, Oyster & Grill still holds up eight years after our last visit. Not much has changed since then, but why should it? They've found a winning formula, stuck to it, and today the place has established itself as a true neo-classic.
What's more, restaurants like Oyster & Grill are a clear indicator that Copenhagen is a gastro destination that's here to stay. As important as it is to have gastronomic flagships like Noma and Geranium, it's equally important to have quality restaurants that almost everyone can afford to eat at.”
If it's been too long since you visited Oysters & Grill too, we recommend you stop by soon.
